KRISHNA INSTITUTE OF PHARMACY, KARAD
Workshop on ‘Advancing Pharmaceutical Research through Effective Experimental Designs’
Thursday, 14thNovember 2024
On November 14, 2024, Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, Karad, in collaboration with Government College of Pharmacy, Karad, organized a workshop titled "Advancing Pharmaceutical Research through Effective Experimental Designs" in S1 Hall of Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Karad. This one-day event aimed to enhance the research skills of faculty members and scholars by focusing on advanced experimental design techniques crucial for innovative pharmaceutical research.
The workshop commenced at 9.15 a.m. with an inaugural address by Convenor Dr. N.R. Jadhav (Dean, KIP, KVV, Karad), who underscored the significance of robust experimental design in achieving reliable and reproducible research outcomes. Co-Convenor and Chief Guest of workshop,Dr. P.R. Mahaparale (I/C Principal, GCOP, Karad), highlighted the practical benefits of using Design of Experiments (DOE) in academic dissertations and research projects, emphasizing its role in maximizing research clarity and impact.
The technical sessions began with Dr. R.J. Dias (HOD, GCOP, Karad), who provided an in-depth introduction to the fundamentals of DOE, including key concepts like randomization, replication, and response surface methodology. His presentation focused on how well-planned designs can minimize errors and optimize the reliability of experimental results.
Next, Dr. A.B. Kuchekar (Professor & Asso. Dean, School of Health Sci. & Tech., MIT-WPU, Pune) discussed the principles of Quality by Design (QbD), a systematic approach in pharmaceutical development. His session covered critical aspects such as risk assessment, identification of critical quality attributes, and establishing a design space to ensure consistent product quality.
Dr. S.J. Nadaf (Asso. Professor, BVCP, Palus) conducted a practical, hands-on session using Design Expert software. He guided participants through the process of setting up experiments, analyzing data, and interpreting results, providing actionable insights to simplify complex statistical analysis.
The final session by Dr. A.N. Chivate (Asst. Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology, KIP, KVV, Karad) focused on clinical study design, including both observational and experimental methodologies. He highlighted the importance of ethical considerations and data accuracy in clinical research, sharing valuable examples and case studies.
The workshop concluded successfully at 5.00 p.m., equipping participants with advanced knowledge and practical tools to elevate the quality of their research, thereby contributing to the advancement of pharmaceutical science.A total of 88 participants, including M.Pharm. students, PhD scholars, and faculty members, attended the event.
