Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, KVV (DU), Karad organised Inaugural Ceremony of 5th National Pharmacovigilance Program Week 2025 under the theme "Your Medication Safety, Just a Click Away: Report to PvPI"

The 5th National Pharmacovigilance Week - 2025 was inaugurated at Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, KVV (DU), Karad on 17th September 2025, at 10:30 am at Tierra hall (S1) in the esteemed presence of Shri. Nitin S. Deore (Chief Chemist, B. J. Medical College & Sassoon Hospital, Pune), Dr. Vijay V. Kanase (Medical Director, Krishna Charitable Hospital, Karad) served as Guest of Honour, Presiding officer of the event Dr. M. V. Ghorpade (Registrar, KVV) and Dr. Namdeo R. Jadhav (Dean, Krishna Institute of Pharmacy). The main objective of the 5th National Pharmacovigilance Week - 2025 is to raise awareness about reporting adverse drug reactions (ADRs) through digital platforms, promoting patient safety, and strengthening India's Pharmacovigilance Programme. On this inaugural event the dignitaries released the ICT material on the theme “Your Medication Safety, Just a Click Away: Report to PvPI” designed by the KIP - Pharm. D students for raising the awareness within all the stakeholders.

Dr. M. V. Ghorpade (Registrar, KIP, KVV) highlighted the existence of pharmacovigilance at our university and brought into notice of everyone about the current status of PvPI AMC at the university level.

Dr. Vijay V. Kanase (Medical Director, Krishna Charitable Hospital, Karad) emphasised on being vigilant or watchful on the events that may arise of medicines, as no medicines are devoid of untoward effects. Pharmacist within the healthcare system along with other stakeholders play an important role in spreading the message and ensuring medicine safety.

Shri. Nitin S. Deore (Chief Guest), in his keynote address, stressed that effective FDA regulatory action depends on proper adverse event reporting. He urged students to address the challenge of underreporting through community awareness programs.

Dr. Namdeo R. Jadhav (Dean, KIP) emphasized the importance of a pharmacist especially as a stakeholder at various organizations has obligations towards promoting medicine safety.

The inauguration set a positive tone for the week-long celebration of events from 17th to 23rd September 2025 like extempore, street play, community pharmacy sensitisation by students through the distribution of ICT material, social media campaign and webinar on Industry- Expert Interaction. The program concluded with the vote of thanks from the program co-ordinator Dr. Bijoy Kumar Panda (Assoc. Prof., Dept. of Pharmacy Practice) reinforcing the commitment of the institution to contribute to safer healthcare practices.
