At KVV Karad, the institute of Neurosciences is working to excel in Neurosurgery and lead the world in new techniques and technology as well as research. After being the first and presently the only place in India to have an Exoscope, and a state of the Art
Microscope, we have designed the robotic Endoscope holder and is doing trials with this. The department invented Cisternostomy, which has changed the way how the surgical treatment of head trauma is done. We also described how the brain is cooled and
cleaned, and this has changed the scope of research of many neurodegenerative disorders. Dr. Iype Cherian, who heads the Department, gives lectures to all over the world in Skullbase, vascular surgery and teaches his technique of Cisternostomy to the
world

Dr. Iype Cherian is a neurosurgeon from Kerala, India currently based in Karad, India. He practices and teaches elite advanced neurosurgery at Institute of Neuro Sciences, Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth, Karad. He completed his Mch. in Neurosurgery from The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai in the year 2007. His contribution to the field of neurosurgery includes neurosurgical procedures such as cisternostomy, skull-base and vascular neurosurgery, the cooling and cleaning theory and the design of modern microsurgical equipment like the hyperscope, the water knife, etc.
