Introduction & Purpose: The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is an integral part of the institution, committed to supporting the academic and research needs of students, faculty, and staff.   1. Library Automation: The Learning Resource Centre is fully automated with Koha ILMS, enabling efficient acquisitions, cataloguing, circulation, serials management, and reporting. Integrated barcode and RFID technologies ensure accurate tracking, streamlined workflows, and enhanced user services.

Library Committee: The Library Committee is a key body responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning, strategic growth, and service excellence of the University Library. It guides and oversees all library operations, policies, and development initiatives, including policy formulation, infrastructure planning, resource development, and modernization. The Committee ensures that library services remain aligned with the academic, research, and learning needs of the institution while providing high-quality, user-focused resources and facilities.

Our policies ensure fairness, efficiency, and quality in delivering academic support services.

  1. Collection Development Policy: Guides systematic acquisition and maintenance of resources, based on departmental recommendations and transparent procurement procedures.
  2. Journals Management Policy: Ensures timely subscription, renewal, processing, access, and archiving of print and e-journals.
  3. Digital Resource Policy: Covers selection, licensing, access, and maintenance of e-resources including databases, e-books, and e-journals.
  4. Preservation Policy: Protects both physical and digital materials through conservation measures, backups, and disaster preparedness.
  5. Archiving Policy: Maintains rare, historical, and back-volume collections for long-term academic use.
  6. Write-Off Policy: Defines permissible loss thresholds and procedures for damaged, lost, or outdated materials.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

We follow structured SOPs to ensure transparency and quality in all operations:

  • Resource Acquisition & Management – From recommendation and vendor selection to processing and circulation.
  • Journal Subscription Process – From request to binding and archival storage.

General Rules

  1. Maintain silence at all times.
  2. Avoid prohibited activities (smoking, spitting, loud talking, etc.).
  3. Handle materials carefully; users are liable for damages.
  4. Carry your library smart card for entry and borrowing.
  5. No seat reservation is allowed.
  6. Return books to designated places after use.
  7. Vacate seats before closing time.
  8. Follow security checks when required.
  9. Misbehavior may lead to suspension of privileges.

Digital Library: The Digital Library at the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is a unified platform providing seamless access to a rich collection of academic and research resources in digital formats. It comprises two major components one is Institutional Repository (DSpace) and subscribed E-Databases.

The Institutional Repository (IR) is an open-source digital library platform built using DSpace. It serves as a long-term preservation and open-access system for the university’s scholarly and academic output. The repository provides access to the following collections:

Library Services

The Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth (KVV) Library is committed to supporting the academic and research needs of its users by offering a comprehensive range of services. These are designed to facilitate easy access to resources, enhance learning experiences, and promote effective use of library materials for students, faculty, and staff.

Eligibility

  • All students enrolled in the university are automatically eligible for membership after completing registration formalities.
  • Faculty and staff are entitled to membership as part of their academic privileges.
  • Additional memberships may be granted upon recommendation from the authorized authority.

Procedure for enrollment and privileges of members :

Membership Card

  • Every member is issued a Library Membership Card, which must be presented to borrow library materials.
  • The card is non-transferable and remains the property of the library.
  • Overdue fines or other dues must be cleared before the card is returned.

Lost Card

  • Report any lost card immediately in writing to the Librarian.
  • A duplicate card can be issued within 7 days upon payment of Rs. 50/-.
  • Members are responsible for any loss or misuse of their card.

Card Validity

  • The Library Membership Card remains valid for the duration of a student’s enrollment or as per university rules.
  • For faculty and staff, validity continues until the end of service/affiliation with the university.

Borrowing Privileges

  • Borrowing limits and durations vary according to member category (students, faculty, staff).
  • Reference books, rare materials, and bound volumes of journals are for library use only and are not normally issued.

  • Smooth issuing and returning of books and materials.
  • Helps users borrow essential resources for study and research efficiently.

Borrowing Rules:

  • Students must be present; faculty may authorize messengers.
  • Only valid members can borrow.
  • Librarian may recall books anytime.
  • Damaged books will not be issued.
  • Latest journal issues remain in-library; PG students can borrow loose issues.

  • No clearance will be granted until all obligations have been fulfilled.

Rules for Reference / Reserved Items:

Key points:

  • Reference books, rare books, bound journals, and other special materials usually cannot be borrowed.
  • Some textbooks may be marked as “reserve copies” for limited use.
  • High-demand books may not be reissued consecutively to the same member.
  • The Librarian’s decision is final in special cases.
