Integrated Seminar on Antimicrobial Resistance Held at Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, KVV DU, Karad on 25th September 2024: 

The Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Cell at Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, Karad, successfully hosted an Integrated Seminar on Antimicrobial Resistance on 25th September 2024. The event brought together esteemed faculty, department heads, postgraduate students and interns to address the pressing global issue of antimicrobial resistance.

The seminar commenced with an introductory speech by Dr. S. A. Jadhav, Member AMR Cell, Professor of Pharmacology, highlighting the importance of knowing about AMR and antimicrobial stewardship.

Dr. P. V. Ghunkikar, Nodal Officer, AMR Cell, highlighted the significance of combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in clinical settings. Distinguished Heads of Departments, including Dr. Anil Bhoi (Paediatrics), Dr. S. C. Aundhkar (Medicine), Dr. S. R. Patil (Microbiology), and Dr. R.P. Patange (OBGY), also graced the event with their presence and shared valuable insights.

Postgraduate students from various departments presented on diverse topics related to AMR, including infection control, antimicrobial policies, diagnostic stewardship, and preventive strategies for device-associated infections. The event emphasized the importance of inter-departmental collaboration and knowledge-sharing to combat AMR effectively.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Y. R. Kadam, Chairperson of the AMR Cell and Dean, KIMS, KVV DU, Karad, lauded the efforts of all presenters and participants, calling for continuous awareness and research in the field of AMR.

The seminar was well-received, and the collaborative efforts of the AMR Cell have set a solid foundation for future initiatives aimed at addressing the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance.
