With due consideration for creating awareness about ayurvedic formulations, evaluations, and regulations, a visit to the ayurvedic plant at SG Phyto Pharma was arranged. This company is considered a major manufacturer of ayurvedic formulations from a renowned background. During the visit, students learned about key process parameters, gaining various insights into the ayurvedic industry, such as toxicity reduction processes and the drying/storage of different herbs.

At Unit B-53 and Unit D-21, students were introduced to classical preparations like Choorna, Bhasma, Kadha, Taila, Kshar, Guggul Kalpa, Khalvirasayanas, Parpati, Chyawanprash, and Kupipakwa Rasayanas. Students also observed the diesel-fired Bhatti section used for bulk preparation of Kadha and Taila, alongside a dedicated wood-fired Bhatti section for Mandagni, Madhyagni, and Teevragni processes in Kupipakwa Rasayanas. Dedicated compartments for Panchdravya Shodhan, Maaran and Amrutikaran Vidhi were also seen, as well as the Dolayantra Vidhi used for the Shuddhi (purification) of raw materials. students observed various operations, including the cone blender section for bulk mixing and a fully automatic capsule filling machine with a capacity of 70,000 capsules per hour. They also saw a semi-automatic capsule filling machine, a blister packing machine, a liniment section with an automatic bottle labelling assembly, and a label printing machine line with a sensor-based laser beam assembly. This unit also featured digitally controlled environmental conditions for temperature and humidity.

At Ripcord Pharmaceuticals, students learned about various capsule filling operations and Fluidized Bed Dryer operations used in different pharmaceutical processes, such as tablet and capsule formulations.

Mr. Raghwendra R. Waghmode and Ms. Jyotsana M. Gandhi accompanied the visit, which was conducted under the leadership of Dr. N. R. Jadhav, Dean of Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, Karad.
