KIMS- World Autism Acceptance Month celebration

April 2 was world Autism Awareness day ,with theme for this year : celebrate differences.

On the same day we had organised Handmade Poster Competition for students ,in which medical students , Physiotherapy students and nursing students took part. It was evaluated by Dr Yugantara R Kadam Dean, KIMS , Dr Anil Bhoi HOD of Paediatrics , Dr Mandar Ramesh Malawade , HOD of Paediatrics Physiotherapy, Dr Vasantmeghna Murthy , Associate professor department of psychiatry, Dr Sabu Richard , Assistant Professor , Department of Paediatrics. On April 10th an interdepartmental Quiz on autism was conducted by Dr Leya, Assistant Professor and Moderator Dr Vinod Choudhary, Professor, Department of Paediatrics. Residents of Paediatrics , Psychiatry and Physiotherapy took part in it. 16th of April , an awareness talk on Autism for health care workers was organised. The programme started of with inaugral function and prizes for the poster competition and quiz competition was given by the dignitaries. Four topics were discussed in the awareness programme. Introduction to autism by Dr Parvathy Balakrishnan, Assistant Professor Department of Paediatrics Role of Psychiatry in Autism by Dr Vasantmeghna Murthy , Associate professor department of psychiatry Counselling and Psychotherapy by Dr Shailaja Patil Psychologist. Autism and Physiotherapy by Dr Mandar Ramesh Malawade , HOD , Department of Paediatrics Physiotherapy. Faculties, Nursing staff, medical students, nursing students and physiotherapy students attended the programme
